Operation Porchlight - Radio Bloomington

What is
Operation Porchlight?
United Way of
McLean County, the American Red Cross of the Heartland,
PATH, and the Bloomington & Normal Trades and Labor
Assembly have joined together to form Operation
Porchlight.
It is our
opportunity as a community to let all deployed military
personnel in McLean County know that we will take care of
their families while the soldiers are taking care of us.
This
assistance will be provided to any deployed military
personnel who are deployed out of….or whose families
reside in…McLean County.
The program
will consist of emotional, household, and financial
support.
Emotional:
PATH and Red Cross Volunteers will work with military
Family Readiness Groups to help families cope with the
emotional strain of having a loved one deployed
Household:
Local labor unions will provide assistance when household
repairs arise.
FINANCIAL
SUPPORT
The United Way of McLean
County has set up a special fund to provide financial
relief. These funds will be used to help families who have
a financial need, and to fund programs for the families
while their loved ones are deployed. (Families who have a
financial need will work through the American Red Cross to
find assistance through any existing programs…Operation
Porchlight funds will be used to fill in any gaps.)
